The Battle of Otumba: On July 14, 1520, Hernán Cortés and his troops were challenged by an Aztec army on a plain in front of Otumba to be finally destroyed. However, they underestimated the fighting power of the Spanish cavalry. Although the Spanish suffered heavy casualties in battle, the Aztecs withdrew after their leader was killed in battle.
